Feb. 21st, 2019 Education Meeting: Crisis Text Line

Education Speaker Series Presents:

Crisis Text Line

Jim is a Regional Sales Manager in the mortgage industry that has been a trained volunteer Crisis Counselor for crisis Text Line since July of 2016 and currently has over 2,100 conversations.  Crisis Text Line is a free 24/7 non-profit crisis text service that is available for people in any type of crisis simply by texting “Hello” to 741741.  Their first priority is helping people move from a hot moment to a cool calm, guiding Texters to create a plan to stay safe and healthy.  Texting feels safe and over 93.8 million messages have been exchanged since August of 2013.  Instead of waiting a few hours to connect with someone, you can do it right there in the moment no matter what the crisis may be.  Jim is also a Survivor Outreach Program volunteer for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

Jim will share his experience with Crisis Text Line and how this organization helps many people who are in crisis and also provides invaluable data on mental health.

Text 741741 if you are ever in crisis.
